I’m not 100% sure this is a good thread to start, as I enjoy Wordle but not sure I enjoy being competitive about it. (My aunt is much better than I am - I’ll try words just for fun, but she is serious about keeping down the number of attempts.)
Today’s Wordle I got on my 5th attempt.
I see that Stephen provided screenshot of results - let me know if you want me to as well…
Addicting game. I am also addicted to the New York Times Mini-Crossword; you do not have to have a subscription to play.
I don’t get competitive about Wordle; I just like to share my victories and defeats.
I recently ended a long streak, boo! This morning’s was lucky for me; I picked an unusual starting word and it paid off.
I have no idea why, when it came clear the answe was XORSE, the first word that popped into my head was “gorse”. I’ve never seen a gorse bush, and I’m not likely to either. It’s also a word that Wordlebot doesn’t consider to be a likely solution.
Does anyone else enter their “known” letters on the grid for better visualization? For example, if I know the positions of A and E, I will actually type XAXXE on the grid, and seeing that helps me to find the solution.
I use “X” as well to figure out the word! There are many words that I figured out using visualization in this way.
I generally lose about 5% of the time. (I am guessing the “riper” was your downfall? It certainly was mine!)
I’m not certain, but I think it was “avail” that ruined my streak.
I’d blame it in the fact that I was doing it at 2 a.m., except that I usually do my Wordles in the wee hours
I get some outside help when I know 2-3 of the letters and can’t figure out what I can do with the ones left. https://www.anagrammer.com/ Usually if I’m on my fourth guess and managed to eliminate most of the more frequently-used letters.
Got today’s Wordle in 5.
Ditto. I was starting to feel a bit nervous!
Hmmm…”ditto” would be a challenging word, must remember that.
got today’s Wordle in six, and even then, it was close as I was deciding between two words…
I got it in three today. Almost did it in four, but I changed my mind at the last moment!
As an aside, has anyone seen this video?
Is it possible to use 5 words which have between them 25 different letters?
As a strategy, I wouldn’t use it in Wordle, as it doesn’t help with anagrams, or double letters, etc. But I have used it in Quordle, on the practice games.
Any coders who have seen the video might find the follow up video interesting:
Stephen
Wow - you got it in three??!! I’m impressed!
Just starting to play around with Quordle. Did terribly at first, but am getting better.
I don’t watch videos much… unless they’re movies or series. Edited to add that I prefer reading instructions rather than watching a video - I guess that identifies me as older.
I was lucky - my first guess gave me three letters. My second guess gave me the position of those three letters, plus one other.
It took me until my fourth guess; my standard initial starters just weren’t helpful. I did better with Dordle
Haven’t heard of dordle- will look it up!
Here’s my Wordle stats today:

Got today’s in 3 without assistance!
Congrats! It took 4 tries for me.
it took me five!!! Kept missing on second and fourth letters.
But, yay! I got it.
