I was never a particularly popular kid at school; i wasn’t disliked, i was just not the sort of person that you’d expect to get any Valentine’s cards (and indeed, i never did). Didn’t bother me.
One morning, unusually for me, i was a few minutes late for school, and I entered the form classroom whilst the teacher was still doing registration.
I said “Sorry I’m late, Sir; I was too busy opening all my Valentine’s cards”
Everyone burst out laughing, and i got a nice buzz out of that response!
