In the case of that particular story, it was submitted that way. We do our best to make sure the story still makes sense and is as funny or interesting as it can be, so we try not to redact things if it’s not totally necessary.

I can understand the reason, but sometimes it’s not consistent. For example, a lot of story about videogames got the title redacted to [video game title]. But when the story is about Pokemon Go (or any general Pokemon games) it was never redacted. So yeah, there is some inconsistency about this redact policy. Maybe there’s another example, but this is the one I remember.
Sometimes it comes down to what helps the story make the most sense. A game like Pokemon Go has a very different set of circumstances around it than, say, Call Of Duty. And again, some of it just comes from the story author choosing to redact that information before we ever get our eyes on the story.

Another example is the recent story that mentioned the name of the movie “Midsommar” and “Hereditary” instead of [horror movie] or something like that.
