Forum Rules

Not Always Right aims to provide a safe and civil space for anyone to be able to discuss, share, debate, and rant about the daily grind of bad customers, bosses, or anything else! This includes accessing or using the site, submitting content via our story submissions page, site comments, or the Forums.

There are some guidelines we need you to agree to before you use our site.

  • No personal attacks on users or any individual will be tolerated, and users who repeatedly engage in this behavior may be banned. We won’t allow aggressive or rude behavior towards our staff.

  • Keep your contributions relevant. Comments and posts should be relevant to the topic being discussed. If you stray too far from the discussion they may be deleted.

  • Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise offensive language will not be tolerated. There is a difference between criticizing a belief and attacking people because of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. This type of content can only be shared when relating a story of someone who uses such language (i.e. a racist customer), and only when presented in a negative light.

  • Be polite and civil. We appreciate constructive debate and understand that people often feel strongly about the topics on the site. Show respect for the views and beliefs of others. Try to improve the discussion, not derail it!

  • No Truth Policing. Our authors work hard to send in their stories. Making remarks like “that happened” or “Fake!” are discouraging and only encourages negative discourse. Just because you haven’t experienced the situations in a story yourself, doesn’t mean that the author’s experiences are invalid. If you don’t believe the validity of a story, please ignore it and move on.

  • Do not spam. No one likes seeing repetitive and unwanted comments and posts just for the sake of attention. Post-padding (useless/pointless posts designed to increase your post-count) will not be tolerated. We do not allow the posting of advertisements, auctions, affiliate links, copyrighted material, direct or indirect request for financial assistance from our members, so please don’t do it.

  • No illegal activity. Not Always Right does not condone illegal acts. These can only be discussed in a negative light, such as in the sharing of a story. This includes posting suggestions of illegal activity and threats against staff, moderators, or other Forum members. We do not allow copyrighted material to be posted on Not Always Right unless the source is clearly stated and verified, preferably with a corresponding link to the original work. Please do not post advice on how to breach copyright, including illegal downloading, piracy, or anything else that might contribute to circumventing copyrighted material.

  • Respect privacy. Do not publicize your or anyone else’s personal details, including address, place of employment, telephone number, email address, etc. Posting pictures or links to pictures of people being represented in a story is prohibited. If you wish to post pictures containing yourself, that is permissible, but keep in mind this is a public forum and your pictures will be visible to anyone on the internet. Posting another individual’s personal information will result in an immediate ban. Not Always Right cannot be held accountable for any problems that result from sharing any identifiable information, including your own.

We hope that for the vast majority of you, disputes and enforcement will not be required. After all, we’re here to talk about the bad behavior of the people out there, not in here! Not Always Right has always been a place of solidarity for those on the front lines of customer service, so let’s all focus our attention there!

We’re all different, with views and feelings that reflect that, but as long as we approach everyone else with respect then this can remain a safe space for all of us!

All of us are not always right, but it doesn’t mean we can’t get along!
